The University of Alberta promise is a secondary element of our visual identity and should appear on materials that harmonize with our core values and principles. This is often the case with central marketing and institutional-level messaging.
Our promise consists of two components, the quote and the attribution. The quote contains the words spoken by Henry Marshall Tory in his first convocation speech in 1908. The attribution contains the name of our first president and the date the quote was spoken.
- The promise is a secondary element and does not have to be used all the time. We encourage you only to use the promise artwork when it is clear that the initiative connects to our core values and principles.
- The extended version of the promise may be used when it is necessary to illustrate context.
- When using the artwork it must be used as provided and should never be altered or changed in any way (other than scale and colour).
